Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of heating a conversion gas which can equalize the temperatures in a retort more simply and certainly. SOLUTION: A conversion furnace includes: a retort 3 which is arranged at the inside of a furnace body of the conversion furnace while housing a catalyst 7 for generating a conversion gas; an upstream regenerative burner 8a which supplies hot air to upstreame of raw material gas in the retort 3; and a downstream regenerative burner 8b which supplies hot air to downstream of the raw material gas in the retort 3, wherein based on a temperature measurement value of a temperature sensing element 33a for upstream control disposed upstream of the raw material gas in the retort 3, the control of the upstream regenerative burner 8a is performed, and based on a temperature measurement value of a temperature sensing element 33b for downstream control disposed downstream of the raw material gas in the retort 3, the controlling of the downstream regenerative burner 8b is performed.
