PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector for easily selecting an image output device connected to an input terminal. SOLUTION: This projector 1 includes a first input terminal T1, second input terminal T2 and third input terminal T3, and a first input detection section 231, second input detection section 232 and third input detection section 233 for detecting that a video signal is input to each input terminal and outputting the detection result. The projector 1 also includes a first display operation section 31, second display operation section 32 and third display operation section 33 for displaying the state of the input of the video signal to each input terminal and outputting an operation signal for selecting an input terminal based on the input operation. The projector 1 also includes a control section 20 for determining whether the projector 1 can process the video signal based on the detection result, displaying the determination result on each display operation section, selecting the input terminal according to the operation signal, and projecting image light according to the video signal when the video signal input from the selected input terminal can be processed by the projector 1.
