Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shaft member for a fluid dynamic-pressure bearing device that enhances processability of a flange so as to allow fastening work with a shaft to be easily and inexpensively executed while having excellent wear resistance of a bearing surface. SOLUTION: The shaft member for a fluid dynamic-pressure bearing device has a shaft 21 and a flange 22. At least one end face of the flange 22 forms a thrust bearing clearance in-between the face facing the one end face. The flange 22 comprises a base 23 forming a fastening part in-between the shaft 21 by plastic deformation, and a hard part 24 integrally formed on the base 23 so as to constitute the one end face while showing hardness higher than that of the base 23.
