PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device capable of storing content data recorded in a detachable recording medium while complying with copy guard rules, and editing the stored content data within a short time. SOLUTION: Content data is stored in a first area with which disk ID unique to an optical disk 61 and edited, the edited content data is not made identical to content data before editing, which has been recorded in the optical disk 61, and the data in the optical disk 61 is overwritten with the nonidentical content data. For example, the edited content data is not made synchronous with the content data before the editing, which has been recorded in the optical disk 61, the data in the optical disk 61 is overwritten with the edited content data only in the asynchronous state, and the content data stored in the first area is edited within a short time while complying with copy guard rules.
