SOLUTION: The present invention provides methods, compositions, apparatus, and a computer data retrieval system for conducting proteomics and metabolic profiling on biological samples. One apparatus includes: a sample container (50); a plurality of separation capillaries (54, 64, 74); a plurality of fraction collection devices (60, 70); a detector (78); and an analyzer (82). The present invention provides methods for separating a species of polypeptide from a sample solution containing plural species of polypeptide and identifying the species of polypeptide.
