Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem on a spark ignition type internal combustion engine that the reaction of spark discharge with an electric field generates plasma to ignite an air/fuel mixture while using microwaves to generate the plasma, that the amount of the plasma to be generated is determined by the intensity of the electric field by the microwaves and the great amount of plasma reacts with the spark discharge to wear an antenna exposed to high temperatures, thus resulting in such inconvenience that foreign matters remain in a combustion chamber and the radiating performance of the microwaves is deteriorated. SOLUTION: In the spark ignition type internal combustion engine, the reaction of the plasma generated in the combustion chamber by the microwaves with the spark ignition caused by an ignition plug 1 ignites the air/fuel mixture as shown in Fig.1. A microwave radiating part is provided at a position in the combustion chamber 6 by the 1/2 of wavelengths of the microwaves or longer distant from the ignition plug. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
