Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogenation treatment method for heavy hydrocarbon oil, by which desulfurizing and demetalling treatments can be performed over a long period, in a hydrogenation treatment of heavy hydrocarbon oil. SOLUTION: The hydrogenation treatment method for heavy hydrocarbon oil includes hydrogenating the heavy hydrocarbon oil by successively bringing it into contact with each of a plurality of catalysts provided in a front stage, middle stage and rear stage under such conditions that the hydrogen partial pressure is 4-20 MPa, the hydrogen/oil ratio is 400-3,000 NL/L, the temperature is 300-450°C, and the liquid space velocity is 0.05-5 h-1. A predetermined amount of zinc oxide is incorporated into an inorganic oxide carrier of each catalyst. The catalysts each having a predetermined specific surface area, pore volume and average pore diameter and including pores each having a pore diameter of the average pore diameter±1.5 nm (±2.0 nm in the case of the catalyst provided in the front stage) are used.
