Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely and stably perform the oxidative degradation of volatile organic compound (VOC) components with a catalyst by enabling proper setting of an air-liquid ratio according to the VOC components of VOC-containing wastewater supplied to a diffusion column and the supply amount of the wastewater when diffusing and diluting the VOC components in the VOC-containing wastewater with air. SOLUTION: When the VOC-containing wastewater A is supplied to the diffusion column 2 to diffuse and dilute the VOC components with air B and the diluted gas C obtained by diffusing and diluting the VOC components is reacted with the catalyst 11 to oxidatively degrade the VOC components, the air-liquid ratio Vair/L (Nm3/kg), which is the ratio of the volume of the air B charged into the diffusion column 2, Vair (Nm3), to the amount of the VOC-containing wastewater A supplied to the diffusion column 2, L (kg), is set to equal to or larger than 0.05 (Nm3/kg) and also set within the range, relative to the higher heating value of the VOC-containing wastewater A, HHV(kJ/kg), represented by 0.0417HHV≤Vair/L≤0.1274HHV.
