SOLUTION: In the exhaust gas treatment system for the engine equipped with a black smoke removing device in an exhaust gas passage, the open close valve 30 is disposed at an open end 20a of the exhaust gas passage 20, a branch passage is disposed right before the open close valve, the black smoke removing device is disposed at the branch passage, and a means 37 opening a part right after the black smoke removing device and closing the open close valve for a prescribed period of time during engine start is provided.
