METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MEASURING CONCENTRATION OF VITAMIN A AND BETA-CAROTENE IN BLOOD OF DOMESTIC ANIMALS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for measuring a concentration of vitamin A and beta-carotene in blood of domestic animals, capable of measuring the concentration of vitamin A and beta-carotene in the blood of domestic animals in situ. SOLUTION: The method includes a step (V) of mixing a protein modified liquid, a lipid-soluble component extract, and an antioxidant agent to prepare a mixture liquid, a step (W) of mixing and stirring the mixture liquid and a whole blood of a domestic animal to prepare a stirred mixture liquid, a step (X) of extracting vitamin A and beta-carotene in blood of the domestic animal into a layer of the lipid-soluble component extract by centrifuging the stirred mixture liquid, a step (Y) of irradiating the layer of the lipid-soluble component extract with light having two specific wavelengths and measuring each absorbance in each irradiating wavelength, and a step (Z) of computing the concentration of vitamin A and beta-carotene in the whole blood of the domestic animal from the absorbance.
