Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-strength flat steel wire excellent in secondary workability. SOLUTION: The high-strength flat steel wire 1 assumes a rectangular shape of which each angular part assumes a circular shape, in the cross-section vertical to the longitudinal direction, the thickness (T) being 1.5 to 5.0 mm, the width (W) being 1.5 to 20 mm and the ratio of width to thickness (W/T) being 1 to 4. The high-strength flat steel wire 1 can exhibit, in a tensile test, a yield strength or 0.2% proof stress of 1,600 MPa or more, a breaking strength of 1,900 MPa or more and an elongation at break of 2% or more and allows a bending part 2 having a curvature R of 1.5 times or more of the width (W) to be formed by bending, without breakage in a flat plane vertical to the thickness direction.
