Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of induction-heating the edge parts of steel plates, by which heating in the target temperature range is performed stably even in the joined part between a preceding material and the succeeding material which are different in width when heating the edge parts of steel plates which are conveyed successively, with an induction heating device. SOLUTION: In the method of induction-heating the edge parts of steel plates, the positions P3 of inductors 51a, 51b in the width direction in the joined part of the steel plates S are predetermined so that the lap length L on the side of the preceding material in the joined part and the lap length L on the side of the succeeding material in the joined part are the lap lengths at which both the side of the preceding material and the side of the succeeding material are stably rolled on the basis of the relationship between a predetermined lap length L and temperature rise and control is performed so that, before the joined part is passed through the inductors 51a, 51b, the inductors 51a, 51b are moved from the stationary positions P1 of the preceding material to the above positions P3 and, after the joined part is passed through the inductors 51a, 51b, the inductors 51a, 51b are controlled to be transported from the above positions P3 to the stationary positions P2 of the succeeding material.
