ELECTRIC DOUBLE LAYER CAPACITOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the miniaturization and reduction in cost of an electric double layer capacitor used, for example, in assisting a variety of power sources. SOLUTION: The number of parts and working man-hours can be reduced to obtain a reduction in cost as well as a miniaturization and a reduction in resistance in addition to the exhibition of high reliability by using a simple structure such as a structure which is comprised of a flat element 1, from both end surfaces of which a pair of electrodes 2 and 3 are taken, an upwardly open ceramic case 5 housing the element 1 with an electrolyte solution, a pair of terminals 6 and 7 whose respective one ends are exposed to the outer surface of the case 5 and whose respective other ends are connected to the electrodes 2 and 3 of the element 1, respectively, and an aluminum lid 9 coupled to the top surface of the case 5 to seal the case 5, the case 5 and the lid 9 being coupled to each other by welding via a metal layer 10 disposed on the connection surface between the case 5 and the lid 9.
