Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a beta-zeolite to which mesopores of 0.15 mL/g or more and an outer surface area of 100 m2/g or more are given without reducing the crystallinity of beta-zeolite and a method for producing the beta-zeolite, moreover, a hydrogenolysis catalyst of high performance using the beta-zeolite, a method for producing the hydrogenolysis catalyst, and a hydrogenolysis method using the hydrogenolysis catalyst. SOLUTION: The beta-zeolite has a pore capacity of 2-10 nm of pore diameters of 0.15 mL/g or more which is determined by a BJH method, an outer surface area of 100 m2/g or more which is determined by a t-plot method and a crystallinity of 50-95%, and the hydrogenolysis catalyst is composed by depositing a metal component having hydrogenation activity to a carrier containing the beta-zeolite.
