Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detoxification system and detoxification method of rhodium catalyst that first definitely performs detoxification, secondarily simply and easily achieves the former, and would further thirdly perform the reduction and decomposition of nitrous oxide. SOLUTION: In the detoxification system and detoxification method of rhodium catalyst, a rhodium catalyst 1 reduces and decomposes nitrous oxide of low concentration, contained in an exhaust gas 2, into nitrogen and oxygen at a heating temperature of less than thermal decomposition. A poisoning substance consists of sulfur compounds adsorbed on the surface of the rhodium catalyst 1, typically a sulfate ion and a sulfurous acid hydrogen ion of sulfurous acid. The rhodium catalyst 1 poisoned by the poisoning substance is detoxified by supplying hydrogen, namely the supply of hydrogen generates a nascent atomic hydrogen of stronger reduction than those of the sulfur compounds, thereby performing detoxification by allowing the hydrogen to be adsorbed on the surface of rhodium catalyst 1 in place of the sulfur compounds.
