LOCKING DEVICE OF GATE, AND GATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a locking device of a gate, which is excellent in operability and which enables the operation of engagement/disengagement of the gate with/from a support to be performed with a gate opening operation through a one-touch operation; and to provide the gate. SOLUTION: A lock mechanism 11 engaged with/disengaged from a striker 10 of the support 9, and a handle 12 for performing the operation of opening/closing the gate 2 are provided on the closed end side of the gate 2. The handle 12 is provided with a release trigger 13 for performing the operation of releasing the lock mechanism 11. The release trigger 13 can be push-in-operated between the ordinary attitude of protruding from an outer surface of a handle case 23, and the release attitude of being pushed into the handle case 23 from the ordinary attitude so as to perform the operation of releasing the lock mechanism 11. The direction of the operation of pushing in the release trigger 13 to the release attitude from the ordinary one coincides with the direction of the operation of opening the gate 2.
