Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of regenerating a catalyst for manufacturing methacrylic acid, capable of excellently recovering catalytic activity. SOLUTION: In the method of regenerating a catalyst comprising a heteropolyacid compound including phosphor, molybdenum and a specified element X, an X/Mo in the heteropolyacid compound configuring a regenerated catalyst is adjusted to 0.5/12 to 2/12 through a process (I) of mixing a used catalyst, a nitrate radical, an ammonium radical, and water, and obtaining aqueous slurry A for which the atomic ratio (X/Mo) of the element X to molybdenum is adjusted to be 2/12 to 4/12, a process (II) of drying the aqueous slurry A and obtaining a solid heteropolyacid compound A', a process (III) of mixing the raw material compound of the heteropolyacid compound and water and obtaining aqueous slurry B for which the X/Mo is adjusted to be 0/12 to 0.5/12, and a process (IV) of mixing, then drying and calcining the heteropolyacid compound A' and the aqueous slurry B.
