WASHING AND DRYING MACHINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a useless consumption current when the current from a power supply line is small, caused by a reactor for suppressing a power supply harmonic current which causes noise. SOLUTION: An electric power is supplied to a drum motor 7, a fan motor 27 for sending air to the interior of a drum 3, and a compressor 28 of a heat pump for heating the air sent from a fan, from the power supply line via inverter circuits 24-26. The power supply line is serially connected with the reactor 34 and the reactor is connected in parallel with a relay 35. In a drying operation mode, the drum is rotated by the drum motor to tumble laundry while the fan motor and the compressor are actuated to send hot air to the drum. When the current supplied from the power supply line exceeds a predetermined value during the drying operation, the relay is controlled to open and the current is applied via the reactor and, when the current supplied from the power supply line is the predetermined value or less, the relay is controlled to close and the current is applied bypassing the reactor.
