Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric motor having a carbon brush for giving an improved feature to the motor. SOLUTION: The electric motor has a pair of brushes for transmitting an electric power to the winding of a winding type rotor by allowing the winding type rotor to come into slide contact with a cylindrical rectifier. Each brush 10 has a body 12 including a pair of end faces 15 and 16 and a contact surface 13 extending between the end faces to come into slide contact with a cylindrical peripheral surface of the rectifier. An extending direction of the contact surface is inclined in the axial direction of the rectifier. The contact surface is formed in a V shape viewed in the extending direction thereof.
