Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect whether a recovery container is full or not by a simple means after the container is replaced in an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image carrier; a cleaning device for removing and recovering waste toner on the image carrier; a recovery container for storing waste toner recovered by the cleaning device; at least one conveying member disposed in the recovery container in order to level recovered waste toner; at least one waste toner quantity detecting means for detecting the quantity of waste toner in the recovery container; a conveying member disposed in a waste toner conveying passage in order to convey waste toner from the cleaning device to the recovery container.
