PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display merchandise information when in normal state, to immediately notify a customer of occurrence of a disaster by displaying disaster notification information in place of the merchandise information, and to enable the customer to quickly evacuate in the case of a disaster such as a fire, earthquake or the like. SOLUTION: The electronic shelf label 1 is connected to a store server 3 via a communication network N 2 to display the merchandise information. The store server 3 transmits a fire occurrence signal or an earthquake occurrence signal to the electronic shelf label 1 when a fire notification signal or an earthquake notification signal is output from a fire notification device 5 or an earthquake sensing device 6. The electronic shelf label 1 reads the disaster notification information from a disaster notification information file 15c to be displayed on a display part 12 when the fire occurrence signal or the earthquake occurrence signal is received, and further reads the disaster notification information corresponding to customer attributes from the disaster notification information file 15c to be displayed on the display part 12 when the customer attributes are read from an IC card 4 (identification medium) of the customer.
