BILL IDENTIFICATION DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bill identification device for preventing a bill jam by reducing carrying resistance when a bill, inserted into the bill identification device, passes through a magnetic detection sensor on a carrying passage. SOLUTION: The bill identification device 1 includes: a slot 5 of a bill; a carrying passage 15 of a bill, which is extended while being continuously aligned with the slot 5; carrying means 7 and 10 which carry a bill along the carrying passage 15; a magnetic sensor 25 which is provided on the carrying passage 15 to detect the magnetic characteristics of a carrying bill; and a sensor press plate 27 which is provided opposite the magnetic sensor 25 to bias the bill carried on the carrying passage 15 so as to press the bill to the magnetic sensor 25. The bill identification device 1 has a bias releasing means 34 which releases the bias of the sensor press plate 27, wherein when the end of a bill carried on the carrying passage 15 is entered onto the magnetic sensor 25, the bias releasing means 34 releases the bias of the bill by the sensor press plate 27.
