Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve to improve the quality of a glass plate as a product by suppressing staying of dross at a glass ribbon pulling-up position without relying on an induction means such as a linear induction motor. SOLUTION: In an apparatus 1 for manufacturing a glass plate using the float method, a weir 6 whose upper edge face 6c is immersed in a melt metal 3 is arranged in the downstream end part of a float bath 2 across from the center part in the width direction to both end parts. Distances in the glass ribbon flow direction between the downstream side end face 6a of the weir 6 and the downstream end wall inner face 2a of the float bath 2 facing the face 6a of the weir 6 satisfy relations of A>C and B>C where the distance at one end of the width direction of the weir 6 is denoted as A; the distance at the other end of the width direction thereof is denoted as B; and the shortest distance is denoted as C.
