Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new hydrogenase which promotes the generation of hydrogen by immersing iron in water: to provide a method for producing the hydrogenase: and to provide a method for efficiently generating hydrogen at the ordinary temperature and even not under an acidic condition, by using the hydrogenase and utilizing iron or an iron-containing alloy. SOLUTION: There are provided the new hydrogenase which is composed of a small subunit comprising a specific amino acid sequence and a large subunit comprising a specific amino acid sequence; or a new hydrogenase comprising the specific amino acid sequences wherein one or several amino acids are deleted, replaced or added; or a new hydrogenase comprising an amino acid sequence whose at least 80% is homologous to a specific amino acid sequence; and a method for producing the hydrogenase.
