METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING ELECTRONIC COMPONENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an electronic component which reliably makes nonflammable an armoring material and prevents scattering of a ceramic content and the armoring material upon breakage. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an electronic component (a varistor 2) by covering an element 4 with an armoring material 6 includes the steps of: coating the element 4 with a first armoring film liquid material 30 containing an organic solvent to form a first armoring film 8; and coating the first armoring film 8 with a second armoring film liquid material 34 to form a second armoring film 10. The first armoring film includes a silicone resin or a silicone elastomer and one or more selected from aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and calcium hydroxide at a weight ratio in the range of 45/55-5/95.
