PRINTING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively combine and operate separate modules, each providing one type of toner, for various purposes. SOLUTION: The printing apparatus includes a plurality of substantially identical modules 10 forming a common sheet path. Each module 10 includes a supply 32 supplying marking material of a predetermined type, a marking engine for creating an image of marking material on a sheet, a transport 50 receiving the sheet, moving the sheet so that the marking engine can receive the image from the sheet, and making the sheet available for printing by a subsequent module in the sheet path, a sheet sensing system 60 detecting the position of the sheet received by the transport 50, and a correction module 70 correcting the image formed by the marking engine based on a signal from the sheet sensing system 60.
