Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging apparatus and image forming apparatus for improving the utilization efficiency of current required for charging a body to be charged, in comparison with a case where the supply amount of charge to the surface of the body to be charged is not increased, according to the degradation state of the surface of the body to be charged. SOLUTION: This charging apparatus includes a scorotron charger 14 for charging a photoreceptor drum 12, by supplying charge to the surface of the photoreceptor drum 12, and a CPU 42 for controlling the scorotron charger 14 so that the supply amount of charge to the surface of the photoreceptor drum 12 is increased as the degradation state of the surface of the photoreceptor drum 12 progresses.
