SOLUTION: The coverplate 44 may be configured to axially overlay a plurality of blade retaining slots 38 within the wheel post 42 of a rotor wheel 34. The coverplate 44 may include a tab 54 for radially securing the coverplate 44 within the complementary groove 56 of the rotor wheel 34 and an aperture 62 configured to align with the corresponding aperture 62 of the turbine wheel to receive a fastener 64 for axially securing the coverplate 44 to the rotor wheel 34.
