Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus forming such a high-quality image that a positional shift of a formed dot is inconspicuous even when a two-dimensional surface-emitting laser array is mounted at an erroneous angle. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image carrier 11 which carries the image on the surface thereof by being irradiated with light; a plurality of light sources 200 which are used for irradiating the image carrier with light and arrayed two-dimensionally; and a scanning means 202 for scanning the surface of the image carrier by using the light emitted from the plurality of light sources. When such a direction that the scanning means scans is defined as a main-scanning direction and a row and such a direction that the image carrier is rotated is defined as a sub-scanning direction and a column, the column number n of the plurality of light sources which consist of (m rows)×(n columns) and are arrayed two-dimensionally is an integer equal to or lower than the value to be calculated by the numerical expression: n=ä72.72(μm)×a(dpi)}/25,400(μm) when the resolution of the sub-scanning direction is a[dpi].
