Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for manufacturing an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid with high productivity from an alcohol, olefin or α,β-unsaturated aldehyde, to provide a manufacturing method of the same and to provide a manufacturing method of an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid manufactures the α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid by conducting the liquid-phase oxidation of the alcohol, olefin or α,β-unsaturated aldehyde with molecular oxygen using the catalyst containing palladium and 0.001-0.04 mols aluminum per 1.0 mol of the palladium as catalyst consisting elements. The catalyst can be suitably manufactured by the step of reducing a compound containing palladium in the oxidation state with a reducing agent and the step of reducing a compound containing aluminum in the oxidation state with the reducing agent.
