CYLINDER BLOCK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder block for compatibly securing the strength of a water jacket during pressure die casting and securing the cooling performance thereof. SOLUTION: The cast cylinder block 1 includes the water jacket 10 in which cooling water flows. The water jacket 10 is formed of a sheet-metal member 12 which is cast during casting the cylinder block 1. The sheet-metal member 12 has walls 20 at both sides in the cross direction of a cooling water flow path 25 in which the cooling water flows. The sheet-metal member 12 also has a plurality of supporting columns 30 arranged from the wall 20 at one side among the walls 20 over the wall 20 at the other side. The plurality of supporting columns 30 are arranged so that a distance between the supporting columns 30 located relatively close to a combustion chamber is not shorter than a distance between the supporting columns 30 located relatively apart from the combustion chamber when distances between the adjacent supporting columns 30 located at two positions are compared with each other.
