PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress worsening of an image quality even when cockling occurs in a form during printing. SOLUTION: A head form interval distance ΔL is detected for each position of the recording form P over the whole width of the recording form P by a PW detector following the movement in a main scan direction of a print head for each pass. A correction amount ΔTd according to the head form distance ΔL detected at the precedent pass is added for each position of the print head 24 at the printing time of the successive pass, thereby setting a delay amount Td. A timing when ejecting ink droplets by the print head 24 is thus delayed. Generation of a gap in a strike position of the ink droplets between forward and return travels can be restricted regardless of crest and root of cockling in bidirectional printing, so that worsening of the image quality can be suppressed when cockling occurs.
