Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overvoltage protection device which when detecting an overvoltage applied to an electronic apparatus, cuts off application of the overvoltage to the electronic apparatus and maintains the cutoff state to prevent the breakage of the electronic apparatus due to overvoltage application. SOLUTION: The overvoltage protection device includes a voltage detection means 6 which detects the level of DC voltage from an AC-to-DC conversion means 2 that rectifies and smoothes AC power from the AC power supply 1, and a holding means 8 which has a constantly closed cutoff relay that cuts off application of AC power from the AC power supply 1 to the AC-to-DC conversion means 2, and when determining a voltage detected by the voltage detection means 6 to be higher than a given voltage, opens the cutoff relay and then maintains the excited state of the cutoff relay. In this simple configuration, the breakage of the electronic apparatus due to overvoltage application is prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
