VIDEO IMAGE RECORDING/REPRODUCING APPARATUS AND SIGNAL INFORMATION DISPLAYING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video image recording/reproducing apparatus and a signal information displaying method capable of displaying additional information on a display part in addition to program names. SOLUTION: Character string information is generated from the program name of the video image signal contained in a received broadcast wave and the additional information based on the operation state of a tuner part 15, and the character string information is displayed by the display part 12. The additional information is a channel name of the broadcast wave tuned by the tuner part 15. Therefore, the video image recording/reproducing apparatus 10 can display the video image signal of the received broadcast wave on an external monitor and can display the character string information corresponding to the video image signal on the display part 12.
