SOLUTION: The method for preparing the graft polymer comprises a step of carrying out an esterification reaction between: a polymer A containing a specific structural unit (I) derived from an unsaturated carboxylic acid as a structural unit and; a specific alcohol B containing an oxyalkylene group, provided that the weight ratio of the polymer A to the alcohol B introduced into the reaction system is increased during the esterification reaction between the polymer A and the alcohol B.
