IMAGE CAPTURING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image capturing apparatus, such as a digital still camera, with power consumption less than before. SOLUTION: The image capturing apparatus includes a solid-state image sensor 1, a vertical transfer drive device 2, a horizontal transfer drive circuit 3, and a control device 8 and repeats a series of imaging operations including an exposure operation for exposing an imaging surface after supplying a sub-pulse to the solid-state image sensor 1 and a transfer operation for supplying a vertical transfer pulse and a horizontal transfer pulse to the solid-state image sensor 1 in a fixed cycle the same as or longer than a period during which the series of the imaging operations are performed. The control device 8 terminates the supply of the vertical transfer pulse and/or the horizontal transfer pulse to the solid-state image sensor 1 from the next vertical synchronization period during which the transfer operation included in the series of the imaging operations is performed to the next vertical synchronization period during which the exposure operation included in the series of the imaging operations is performed in the process in which the series of imaging operations are performed in the fixed cycle.
