SOLUTION: The projector 1 includes: a plurality of image forming apparatuses 11, 12 and 13 provided corresponding to a plurality of color light beams Lr, Lg and Lb whose wavelength regions are different from each other, and form an image with the corresponding color light beam; a color synthesizing element 15 synthesizing the color light beams Lr, Lg and Lb emitted from the plurality of image forming apparatuses 11, 12 and 13; and a projection optical system 16 for projecting the color light beam L composited by the color compositing element 15.
