Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recovery device and an image forming apparatus which can collect ink in a gap between an ejection surface and an opening end surface of a cap member to one end side in a longitudinal direction, can shorten the cap member in the longitudinal direction, and moreover can restrict dripping of the ink from the cap member. SOLUTION: The recovery device includes a rotating mechanism which rotates a suction cap 82K in a direction in which the other end side in the longitudinal direction separates from a nozzle surface 34a, and a moving mechanism which moves the suction cap 82K in a direction orthogonal to the nozzle surface 34a. After the suction cap 82K is rotated by driving the rotating mechanism, the suction cap 82K is separated from the nozzle surface 34a by driving the moving mechanism. After the suction cap 82K separates from the nozzle surface 34a, the ink adhering to the suction cap 82K is sucked and discharged by driving a suction pump 201. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
