Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medicament for anti-inflammatory, anti-infectious, cancer metastasis-inhibiting etc., to provide a food such as a dairy product, to provide a method for improving a protein, and to provide a method for diagnosing inflammatory diseases or malignancy of cancers. SOLUTION: There are provided: a new polypeptide having β1,3-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase activity; a method for producing the polypeptide; a DNA encoding the polypeptide; a recombinant vector having the DNA integrated therein; a transformant having the recombinant vector; a method for producing a sugar chain or complex carbohydrate using the polypeptide; a method for producing the sugar chain or complex carbohydrate utilizing the transformant; an antibody recognizing the polypeptide; a method for screening a substance changing the expression of the gene encoding the polypeptide; and a method for screening a substance changing the activity possessed by the polypeptide.
