Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and systems for detecting a breakage defect in a twisted-pair electrical cable. SOLUTION: A magnetic field is applied to a twisted-pair electrical cable 22 including multiple wires by a magnetic field generator in which a magnetic field focus 26 is generated in a gap in a ferromagnetic torus 24 by an exciting coil 32 powered by a power generator 28. A leading end of the twisted-pair electrical cable 22 is connected to a differential amplifier 32 for the purpose of monitoring the magnetic field by the monitor 34. An electrical signal induced in the twisted-pair electrical cable 22 is measured responsively to the magnetic field by generating a relative motion between the twisted-pair electrical cable 22 and the magnetic field. A variation in the electrical signal due to the relative motion is sensed, whereby a breakage defect in the electrical cable is detected in response to the variation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
