Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus which can secure a dot positional accuracy of ink while enabling high-speed printing without lowering printing density in the case of printing characters etc. using a plurality of heads. SOLUTION: The printing apparatus includes a first head which has a plurality of nozzles arranged at a first pitch in a predetermined direction, a second head which has a plurality of nozzles arranged at a second pitch larger than the first pitch in the predetermined direction and is spaced from the first head by a predetermined distance in a direction that intersects the predetermined direction, and a controller which controls the first head and the second head so that only the first head is used to print the contour of the character or of a line image when a print image is the character or line image and so that at least the second head is used to print a position other than the contour.
