Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for producing a visible light-responsive photocatalyst, in which an industrially effective metal ion is directly doped in a titanium oxide crystal and to provide the visible light-responsive photocatalyst which is obtained using this producing method and consists of metal-doped titanium oxide for strongly absorbing the light from the whole ultraviolet light to the light having about 600 nm wavelength. SOLUTION: The method for producing the visible light-responsive photocatalyst includes the steps of: bringing the aqueous solution (B) of the metal ion into contact with anatase-rutile mixed titanium oxide (A); withdrawing a solid; and firing the withdrawn solid at 300-900°C. The visible light-responsive photocatalyst is characterized in that one or more metal ions (B') selected from the group consisting of transition metals and rare earth metals are doped in the anatase-rutile mixed titanium oxide (A).
