CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuously variable transmission capable of improving response characteristics by quickly switching a reaction force direction outputted by a hydraulic servo, in a structure wherein a fully toroidal type continuously variable transmission and a low or high switching mechanism are provided and the torque transmitting direction is changed between input or output disks by clutch switching. SOLUTION: In the continuously variable transmission, an engagement control means 37 starts engagement control for engaging a clutch at a released side of a high clutch H and a low clutch L when reaching a mode switching point, and a reaction force switching control means 38 starts reaction force switching control for switching a reaction force direction during the engagement control. Consequently, release processing of the clutch at an engagement side continued to switching in the reaction force direction can be quickly started by switching the reaction force direction based on the hydraulic servo during the engagement control, and the response characteristics can be improved.
