Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus achieving optimum distribution of light even if changing vertical and horizontal positions, and also achieving optimum length and breadth and aspect ratios according to light distribution characteristics of a flash device, and to provide a flash device. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes an image pickup device 221 for outputting a subject image as image data, and light emission sections 304, 603 that are incorporated into the imaging apparatus or are detachable. The distribution of light is controlled at the light emission sections 304, 604 according to the length and breadth of the image data output region of the image pickup device 221 and/or the aspect ratio.
