SHEET POLARIZER, LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND IPS (IN-PLANE SWITCHING) TYPE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet polarizer, having high-hardness surface and preventing crack and splinter trouble in punching the sheet polarizer, and also to provide a liquid crystal display device having excellent smoothness (flatness) by using the above sheet polarizer. SOLUTION: In this sheet polarizer, a first protective film, a polarization film, and a second protective film are stacked in this order. The second protective film is formed of a laminate of a substantially vertically aligned polymerizable liquid crystal compound layer, acrylic polymer, and a transparent film containing cellulose ester containing at least one kind selected from a sugar ester compound which has one to twelve structures of at least one kind between a pyranose structure and a furanose structure, all or some of OH group in its structure being esterificated.
