IMAGE READING APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a miniaturized image reading apparatus capable of sending a current of air to a lighting optical source, when an ADF (Auto Document Feeder) is installed, operating in power saving, and being manufactured at a low cost, and to provide a miniaturized image forming apparatus manufactured at a low cost by attaching the image reading apparatus. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus includes a lighting optical source, an optical system, an image sensor, a first image reading means, and a second image reading means. The lighting optical source, arranged at the bottom side of a transparent board, illuminates onto an original document placed still on the top face of the transparent board. The optical system leads an image of the original document to the image sensor. The first image reading means moves at least part of the optical system to read the image of the original document. The second image reading means is arranged at the top face side of the transparent board and includes an automatic document feeder at a housing turnable between a position where the top face of the transparent board is exposed and a position where the top face of the transparent board is covered. The second image reading means reads an image in the status that the lighting optical source and the optical system are made to stand them still, When the image of the original document is read using the second image reading means, a blast route is formed from a blower arranged at the housing to the lighting optical source for sending a current of air.
