Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering column unit which can increase a clamping effect via a small operating force of an operation lever, improve vibration characteristics, and efficiently transmit the reaction force of a steering lock to the side of a vehicle body. SOLUTION: A pair of distance pieces 51, 52 disposed between both-sidewall parts 41, 42 of a vehicle-body side bracket 4 and an outer tube 31 are separated from each other, and pressing projections 51b, 52b coming into press-contact with the outside of an inner tube 32 are projectively provided on inside surfaces 51c, 52c of the distance pieces. In addition, abutment parts 51g, 52g abutting on the outside of the outer tube 31 are formed at upper ends 51e, 52e of the inside surfaces 51c, 52c; a whirl-stop part 9 is provided between one distance piece 51 and the outer tube 31; and the other distance piece 52 is disposed to be relatively rotatable along the outer tube 31, thereby increasing the clamping effect via the small operating force of the operation lever 7 and improving vibration characteristics.
