Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader and an image forming apparatus for suppressing temperature rise of not only a central part in the main scanning direction of an original but also of at least one of both end parts in the main scanning direction of the original. SOLUTION: The image reader 100 includes at least either an original fixing read construction or an original moving read construction and includes light source parts 211', 211" on both sides in a main scanning direction respectively, and the image forming apparatus D includes the same. Each of the image reader 100 and image forming apparatus D further includes: one metal frame 202' for supporting one end parts 201a', 201b' in the main scanning direction Y of a glass 201; and the other metal frame 202" for supporting the other end parts 201a", 201b" in the main scanning direction Y of the glass 201. At least one of the light source parts 211' and 211" is below the metal frame for supporting the light source part side of the glass 201 and is positioned outside the main scanning direction Y of a position inside the main scanning direction Y of the metal frame.
