Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing C6F8that has a high conversion rate and a high selectivity and produces a small amount of a by-product and is therefore useful as a commercializing process from C6F6as a starting substance, and a fluorinating agent useful for the fluorination process. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing octafluorocyclohexadiene from benzene hexafluoride as a raw material comprises causing benzene hexafluoride to react at 60-200°C in an atmosphere containing an inert gas with a fluorinating agent activated by causing a composition, obtained by mixing 1-10 wt.% of cobalt difluoride with 90-99 wt.% of a metal fluoride selected from among calcium difluoride, magnesium difluoride, aluminum trifluoride, sodium fluoride and potassium fluoride, to catalytically react with a fluorine gas at 200-400°C.
