Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal apparatus for maintaining a positioning success rate, and reducing a power consumption. SOLUTION: The portable terminal apparatus includes: a positioning mode determining section 20 for implementing a positioning mode determination based on positioning information when a positioning operation is previously attempted; and a GPS positioning section 10 for implementing the positioning operation based on a positioning mode determination result from the positioning mode determining section. A timeout time of a power control section 12 is determined in each mode by using information including a time after power is turned on, the number of captured satellites, a previous positioned location and a positioning time.
